Manchester United, Arsenal submit bids for French Ligue 1 striker

Manchester United and Arsenal have both submitted offers to land the signature of Edinson Cavani on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The Uruguayan's current deal at Parc des Princes expires in less than six months time and he has been tipped to make the switch to Atletico in recent weeks.

However, according to El Chiringuito, Cavani could be offered with alternative choices with the likes of United and Arsenal having submitted contract offers for his services.

United are currently short in the striking department after the departure of Romelu Lukaku alongside the loan exit of Alexis Sanchez and they are eyeing a marksman with a physical presence.

The Gunners, on the other hand, are facing uncertainty over the futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, who are yet to show any desire to extend their existing deals.

Cavani has endured an injury-plagued season with Les Parisiens this term. He has recently played second fiddle to loan signing Mauro Icardi for the centre-forward position.
