Ajer set for Spurs transfer move?

Tottenham are ready to make a summer transfer move for centre-back Kristoffer Ajer after the player's agent insisted that his client would be departing Parkhead for pastures new. Ajer has caught the eye in Scotland, and is potentially set for a move to Spurs in a deal worth a reported £27 million.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has so far refuted speculation that Ajer will be on his way, after the player's agent Tore Pedersen insisted the player will be departing the club. Lennon told reporters: "I’ve heard about the comments and I’m aware of it. At the end of the day the club will decide when players go, not agents or players themselves.

"I think the agent has shot himself in the foot there. We have Kris tied down to a long-term contract so we’ll decide and not anyone else."

Spurs have recently tied Toby Alderweireld down to a new contract, but there remains uncertainty about the future of Jan Vertonghen at Tottenham, with the Belgian defender weighing up a move to Italian duo Napoli or Juventus. In addition, the performances of Davinson Sanchez have left manager Jose Mourinho unhappy and it is not yet known whether or not Sanchez will stay at the club next season.

21-year-old Norway international Ajer arrived at Celtic in 2016 from Start and has since played in 78 games for the Scottish Premier League giants.

It is understood that Arsenal are also considering a transfer deal for Ajer.
