Everton have reportedly failed with an opening bid worth £39.5m to land the signature of Andrea Belotti during the summer transfer window.

The league campaign has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic but that has not ceased the transfer speculation involving different clubs.

A recent report claimed that the Toffees are keen on luring Belotti to the Premier League and it is now suggested that they have failed with an offer for the Torino striker.

The Merseyside outfit are said to have made a £39.5m bid under the instruction of manager Carlo Ancelotti but the proposal was swiftly snubbed by the Serie A side.

Belotti has been in decent form for Torino this season and he has bagged 15 goals from 31 appearances in all competitions. His current deal expires in the summer of 2022 and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees make another offer.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has fared impressively (eight goals from 11 league appearances) since the arrival of Ancelotti in December but the club are still eyeing another top-class striker with Moise Kean failing to impress.
