Liverpool interested in a shock loan deal for Tottenham star

Liverpool have reportedly joined Barcelona in the race to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham Hotspur during the next transfer window.

Ndombele has failed to impress after his £54m move to Spurs last summer and he has made only 12 starts in the Premier League due to form, fitness and injury concerns.

As a result, Spurs are said to be considering his future and Foot Mercato claims that Jurgen Klopp's side have joined the Blaugrana in the player's pursuit.

It is added that the Merseyside giants will only propose a season-long loan for the midfielder but they are prepared to include a mandatory buy option for the summer of 2021.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has been critical over the fitness of Ndombele this year and he is apparently keen on landing a replacement during this summer's transfer window. 

The north London side are unlikely to recoup the entire £54m fee paid for Ndombele due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic. It remains to be seen whether they are willing to take a loss on the midfielder.
