Arsenal agree £22m deal for Brazilian defender

Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille this summer.

The north London side have been heavily linked with the player's services this month and it appears that they have finally reached an agreement over the transfer fee.

According to The Mail, the Gunners have beaten the likes of Manchester United and Napoli in the player's pursuit and they have negotiated a deal worth £22m for the centre-back.

Still, they need to finalise personal terms with the defender and that could be a formality so long as none of the interested clubs make an improved offer for his signature.

The Gunners have made just one summer signing in the form of Willian. The Brazilian joined them on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea reached its conclusion.

Mikel Arteta is said to be eyeing at least two more signings in the transfer window. A new midfielder and centre-back remain the priorities. Gabriel should fill one of the positions.
