Liverpool defender suffers injury on international duty
Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has reportedly suffered an injury ahead of England's international friendly against the Republic of Ireland.
The Reds have been hampered by multiple injury concerns this term and they are expected to be without Virgil van Dijk for most of the season after his knee surgery.
Elsewhere, Fabinho and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also nursing hamstring and calf injuries respectively and they have now suffered another setback.
Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Gomez has sustained a knee injury and it appears that he could be out for a certain period of time.
Should Fabinho remain sidelined after the international break, Jurgen Klopp will find himself with just one regular centre-back in Joel Matip fit.
Either Rhys Williams or Nat Phillips could be called upon to partner the Cameroonian when they take on Leicester City later this month.
Phillips, 23, made his Premier League debut for the Reds during the recent 2-1 comeback win over West Ham United at Anfield.
