Mikel Arteta provides worrying update on Thomas Partey's injury
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a worrying injury update on Thomas Partey following the club's 2-1 Premier League defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Ghana international picked up a thigh injury during the first half of the Premier League loss against Aston Villa and he has since missed three successive games for the Gunners.
Speaking after the Wolves game, Arteta clarified that Partey has suffered a significant injury and he may not be available for the upcoming derby against Tottenham Hotspur on the road.
"We knew it was a significant injury. He's done very well and he's working very hard, he wants to be available. Hopefully we can get him back soon. I don't think he will be with us in the next few games," He told.
The Gunners are currently experiencing their worst start to a Premier League campaign after 10 games. They will be in Europa League action against Rapid Vienna on Thursday night.
With the top spot in the group secured, Arteta has the opportunity to play some of the fringe and young players. Folarin Balogun could be handed his maiden start for the Gunners.
