Frank Lampard explains Christian Pulisic's absence against Everton
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed that Christian Pulisic had to be omitted for the recent Premier League clash against Everton as he was struggling to overcome his hamstring issue.
The USA international picked up a minor muscular problem in the 3-1 win over Leeds United last week and that subsequently saw him miss the Champions League meeting with Krasnodar.
Prior to the Toffees game, Lampard said that it was nothing to worry about, but he has now revealed that Pulisic was uncomfortable in training in the lead-up to the contest.
"He had to be left out. He was uncomfortable in training this week and yesterday. We did miss our three wingers who are injured. It comes back to the same story, there are muscle injuries all over the Premier League,” He told.
In the absence of Pulisic, the Blues missed the presence of natural wingers in their squad with both Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi also on the sidelines with hamstring issues.
Hence, they struggled to penetrate through the Toffees backline and ended up with a disappointing 1-0 defeat which ended their nine-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
