Liverpool suffer double injury blow ahead of Newcastle United clash
Liverpool have suffered a fresh injury blow with both Joel Matip and Naby Keita ruled out for the Premier League clash at Newcastle United.
Matip started alongside Fabinho in the central defence against West Bromwich Albion, but he was substituted at the hour mark with an adductor problem.
Meanwhile, Naby Keita was absent for the game, having picked up a fresh muscular problem in the pre-match training session.
Both players will be assessed over the next few days, but Football.London claims that they are definitely out for the Magpies clash.
The Merseyside giants have suffered numerous injuries this term and they are currently without seven first-team players.
Alongside Matip and Keita, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas and Thiago Alcantara are sidelined with a knee injuries.
Alcantara has recently returned to light training, but Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he won't be rushed back to action.
Despite the injury crisis, the Reds continue to maintain a three-point advantage at the top of the Premier League table.
