Arsenal keen on signing ex-Chelsea defender?
Arsenal are reportedly considering an approach to sign Ryan Bertrand from Southampton this month.
Bertrand has accumulated more than 200 appearances for the Saints in his career, but his future is uncertain with his contract expiring in the summer.
So far, there has been no progress in the negotiations over a new deal and Standard Sport claims that the Gunners may look to sign him.
The Gunners recently loaned out Sead Kolasinac to Schalke 04 and that has left them with no natural back-up options for Kieran Tierney at left-back.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka are capable of playing in the role, but the latter has mostly featured in an attacking position this term.
Maitland-Niles, meanwhile, has not been able to provide the same creativity as Tierney and hence, Bertrand has been identified as a possible target.
Still, it may be difficult to convince the Saints to sell him, considering they have no other senior options for the left-back spot.
A deal may be dependent on whether the south Coast outfit can find a suitable replacement for the ex-Chelsea man in the next 10 days.
