Chelsea sack Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel to replace him
Chelsea have officially dismissed Frank Lampard from the head coach role and will replace him with Thomas Tuchel in the next 24 hours.
The Blues started the season brightly, but have been on a slump over the past six weeks, winning just two of the previous eight league games.
Hence, there were suggestions that Lampard could be axed and the same was made official by the west London side earlier today.
The capital outfit have yet to announce the replacement, but reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tuchel will take charge.
Tuchel has been out of work since getting sacked by Paris Saint-Germain last month. He is set to become the Blues' 13th manager under the Roman Abramovich era.
Initially, the Blues offered Ralf Rangnick with the interim role, but he snubbed their approach.
Meanwhile, the club were also unable to convince RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann to join them.
Tuchel could be in the dugout for the Blues when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
