Mikel Arteta provides fresh update on Kieran Tierney's injury
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a fresh update on Kieran Tierney's injury ahead of the Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
The Scotland international has been sidelined for the previous four games and the Gunners have won just one during this period.
In his absence, they have lacked the creativity and early crosses from the left flank and Arteta is unsure when the defender could return to action.
Speaking in a press conference, Arteta said that the club are working closely on the left-back's fitness and hope to have him back as soon as possible.
"No, it’s a different injury in this case. Kieran is a player that really pushes himself and he has to be able to perform physically at his best because he cannot help himself," He told Arsenal.com.
"We are trying to manage him in the best possible way and find every possibility to give him the best chance to be fit as soon as possible, and we are here to support him as much as we can."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mat Ryan is also doubtful for the game with a hip problem sustained in training. Alex Runarsson appears likely to start in goal against the Villans on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners have recently gone back-to-back games without a victory. They face a testing challenge against the Villans, who have beaten them in the previous two meetings.
