Liverpool suffer big injury blow with midfielder out for six weeks

Jordan Henderson news

Henderson out until April with groin injury

Liverpool have suffered a fresh injury blow with midfielder Jordan Henderson set to be sidelined for around six weeks.

The England international has played regularly at centre-back in recent months with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho injured.

He picked up a groin injury of his own during the recent Merseyside derby and The Mail claims that he could be out of action until April.

With Henderson's absence, the Reds have been left with no experienced faces in the central defence and that is a genuine concern.

They had Ozan Kabak and Nathaniel Phillips (11 club appearances combined) as the central defensive pairing following the injury to their club-captain last weekend.

Ben Davies, who has yet to make his debut, is the only other recognised centre-back fit and available for selection.

The Reds are presently five points behind the top four after a dismal run of four straight defeats in the Premier League.

They have also suffered four successive losses at Anfield. They previously experienced the unwanted feat a staggering 98 years ago.
