Arsenal make transfer decision on Tariq Lamptey
Arsenal have reportedly stalled their pursuit of Tariq Lamptey with the Brighton & Hove Albion defender set to undergo a surgery.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen on signing a new right-back this summer with Hector Bellerin tipped to head through the exit door.
Lamptey has been mentioned as the top target, but a deal appears unlikely with the 20-year-old set to undergo an operation for a hamstring injury.
The procedure will keep him out of action for around three months and the Gunners have reportedly cooled their interest in signing him.
Instead, they may refocus on landing Norwich City's Max Aarons, who could be available for around £30m in the next transfer window.
Aarons is also on the radar of Manchester United, Everton and Bayern Munich. The German champions have already made an approach.
The Gunners may need to open negotiations with the Canaries as soon as possible to land the England Under-21 international ahead of their rivals.
