Liverpool planning move for 25-year-old Premier League striker
Liverpool are reportedly interested in landing the signature of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins during the summer transfer window.
Watkins joined the Villans from Brentford last summer, and he has been a revelation for them, scoring 14 goals from 33 games.
While his goal tally is not spectacular, he has been a strong presence for them upfront, and has impressed with his link-up play.
According to Football Insider, the Reds have their sights on signing a new striker with the struggles of Roberto Firmino.
Watkins has scored four goals against the Reds this term, and that includes a stellar hat-trick in the 7-2 hammering in October.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants to bolster the frontline with a marksman with Premier League experience.
Watkins perfectly fits the requirement, but it is unclear whether the Villans will entertain the prospect of selling him.
Watkins was purchased for a club-record £28m fee, and they may not be tempted to sell unless a significant bid is made.
