Liverpool star keen on Barcelona transfer

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has reportedly told his close friends that he would welcome a summer move to Barcelona.

The Netherlands international has been with the Reds for the past five years, but he looks set to leave them when his contract expires in June.

He has been linked with numerous European clubs including Inter Milan, but Marca claims that the Blaugrana are his preferred destination.

The 30-year-old has reportedly told his close ones regarding his ambition, but it is unclear whether the Blaugrana will place an offer on the table.

Blaugrana boss Ronald Koeman is keen on a reunion with the Dutchman, having previously managed him with the national team.

However, the hierarchy have second thoughts over the move after the signing of Miralem Pjanic last summer, who has failed to make a mark.

The club are said to prefer young players over experience going forward, and are mulling over the promotion of Barcelona B's Ilaix Moriba.
