Chelsea boss very interested in German defender

Chelsea have been handed a boost with Bayern Munich ready to part ways with Niklas Sule during the forthcoming transfer window.

The 25-year-old has been with the Bavarian giants for the past four years, registering 133 appearances in all competitions.

However, he could be on the move this summer, with the hierarchy failing to negotiate a new deal beyond the 2021/22 campaign.

According to AbendZeitung, Bayern are willing to offload the German this summer rather than lose him on a free transfer in 13 months' time.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is very interested in Sule. The German previously tried to sign him compatriot when he was at Borussia Dortmund.

The Blues currently have Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, whose contracts expire in June next year.

They are planning to sign at least one centre-back this summer, and have also been linked with a move for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.

Varane is set to leave Los Blancos after a decade following a disagreement over a new contract. He is also on the radar of Manchester United.
