Arsenal back in for Aouar
Arsenal back in for Aouar
Arsenal are rumoured to have approached Lyon yet again for the signing of coveted midfielder Houssem Aouar. The 23-year-old is a long-term target of the Gunners.
Arsenal tabled a 50 million euro for the Frenchman last year that was rebuffed by the Ligue 1 side, however it is now understood that the Gunners are set to make a new bid for the youngster. With uncertainty over the long-term future of Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi having joined Marseille on loan and Granit Xhaka on the cusp of a 25 million euro move to Roma, the Emirates side are short of options in midfield.
Aouar was recently vacant from training, sparking rumours of a rift at the French club and the player seeking a move away from his current side. However, the youngster responded to the rumours saying that his absence from training was down to an illness that left the player hospitalised.
With Emile Smith-Rowe apparently on Aston Villa's radar, the Gunners could well be short in the creative department for the new season.
Aouar is valued by his club Lyon at around 55 million euros, which would be the vast majority of Arsenal's transfer kitty for the summer.
