Xhaka close to Arsenal exit

Roma are keen on landing the signature of Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka by the end of Thursday, Calciomercato reports.

The Swiss is one of the top transfer targets for manager Jose Mourinho. The midfielder has already agreed personal terms.

According to Calciomercato, Roma are planning a renewed bid for the 28-year-old, and they are hopeful of sealing an agreement by tomorrow.

Their opening offer of €15m was rejected. The Gunners are looking for around €20m, but Roma are optimistic of signing him for €18m.

The Gunners have already agreed to sign Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, and he is expected to join them next week.

The club are in the process of recruiting another midfielder. They are in talks to sign Wolverhamton Wanderers' Ruben Neves.

Prior to that, they are expected to offload Xhaka. The midfielder is currently on holiday, but he is prepared to cut short his vacation.

Xhaka is a huge admirer of Mourinho. He is eager to work under the Portuguese, and could be present for a medical next week.
