Arsenal target Maddison to request transfer?
Social media is filled with reports that Leicester City's star midfielder James Maddison wants a move away from the club. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the player's situation.
According to several reports, Maddison is still extremely disappointed to have missed out on a place in England's Euro 2020 squad and is seeking a transfer move away to a higher profile team in order to boost his own profile and guarantee regular first team football for club and country.
Last season at Leicester City, the talented Maddison often found himself warming the bench under manager Brendan Rodgers, who preferred alternative midfield talent such as Youri Tielemans. Maddison had insisted recently that he planned to stay with Leicester, but the attacking midfielder had apparently changed his mind.
With Arsenal set to sell Granit Xhaka to AS Roma, the Gunners will be seeking a box to box midfielder with set-piece ability. Funds are available for new players at the Emirates. Despite Arsenal's lack of European football, this appears to be no problem for Maddison, who has reportedly told acquaintances that Arsenal is his preferred destination.
Arsenal have already been in contact with the Foxes regarding Maddison, but will reportedly submit an offer this coming week having heard of the player's situation.
