Mikel Arteta speaks on Granit Xhaka's future at Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that midfielder Granit Xhaka is not leaving the club this summer.
The Switzerland international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, but nothing has materialised.
Roma were keen on landing his signature earlier last month, but their bid fell short of the reported €20 million valuation.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Arteta has now confirmed that Xhaka is staying, and he is an integral part of the squad.
He said: "Granit is going to stay with us. He is a key member of our squad."
The Gunners have already signed one midfielder in Albert Sambi Lokonga, and they have been fancied to sign another one.
With Xhaka staying, they may rethink their transfer strategy. Any move may be dependent on the fitness of Thomas Partey.
Partey suffered an ankle injury against the Blues earlier today. Arteta has acknowledged that the setback is concerning.
Arsenal start the new league campaign against Brentford on August 13.
