Chelsea are ready to hand an improved deal to midfielder Mason Mount amid his excellent progress in recent seasons.

The midfielder bagged nine goals and nine assists last term. He was named the club's Player of the Year for his efforts.

According to Goal.com, the Blues are now prepared to hand him a bumper contract to acknowledge his performances.

Mount believes he should earn in the same bracket as Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, who are currently on £200,000-a-week.

The Blues are unlikely to meet his demands, but they are willing to double his current wages that stand at £75,000-a-week.

Mount still has three years remaining on his existing contract, and the hierarchy are likely to take time to finalise a renewal.

Their main priority remains to dish out new deals for Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger as well as club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

Their contracts expire next summer. Christensen and Azpilicueta are expected to extend, but Rudiger seems reluctant to do so.

Rudiger wants around £200,000-a-week, but the Blues have refused to meet his demands. They are yet to make a fresh proposal.
