Wolves jump ahead of Liverpool in pursuit of Portuguese star
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly front-runners ahead of Liverpool to sign midfielder Renato Sanches.
The Portuguese played a key part in Lille's Ligue 1 triumph last season, but he has struggled with injuries this term.
This has restricted him to just four starts, but he continues to be linked with a potential return to the Premier League.
Sanches had a forgettable loan stint with Swansea City previously, and he could get the chance to redeem himself soon.
According to Fichajes, the Midlands outfit are now deemed favourites to pursue Sanches during the winter transfer window.
Jorge Mendes has been key in bringing several Portuguese contingents to Wolves, and he could do so again with Sanches.
Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto, Francisco Trincao and Fabio Silva are among the high-profile Portuguese players at Wolves.
Sanches struggled to adapt at Swansea, but he may not have similar trouble with several compatriots to guide him at Wolves.
Lille are prepared to sanction the midfielder's sale for around £30m.
