Liverpool midfielder linked with Barcelona move
Barcelona are reportedly keen on re-signing Thiago Alcantara from Liverpool following the appointment of Xavi Hernandez.
Xavi was confirmed as the new head coach on Friday, and the club are likely to back him with funds to pursue new players.
According to journalist Pedro Almeida, Xavi is keen on re-signing Thiago as he looks to bolster the club's midfield.
The Spaniard has endured an injury-plagued spell with the Reds this term, and he is currently nursing a calf problem.
He is still a key player for the Reds, but they could be tempted to cash in if he continues to struggle with his fitness.
The Spaniard was signed by the Reds for around £25m, and he could be available for a similar price next summer.
Aside from Thiago, the Catalan giants have also been linked with Manchester City's Raheem Sterling recently.
They were unsuccessful with a loan approach for him last summer, and could make a similar move at the turn of the year.
