Thomas Tuchel confirms fitness concern for Chelsea duo
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Trevoh Chalobah and Hakim Ziyech were substituted against Wolves with knocks.
The Blues went winless for the second game running. They played out a frustrating 0-0 draw against Wolves away from home.
The squad was depleted due to coronavirus cases, and following the game, Tuchel confirmed fitness concerns for two players.
The German was not overly concerned for Ziyech, but acknowledged that Chalobah will need to be assessed in the coming hours.
He told Chelseafc.com: "Trevoh it’s just painful. We still hope it’s not serious, but we need to wait for further examination."
"Hakim I don’t think it’s bad. He got hit on the nerve on his calf, and it was tight so we had to take him off."
Chelsea missed the chance to keep up with Manchester City in the title race after their goalless draw. They are now six points adrift of the league leaders.
They have a midweek Carabao Cup quarter-final at Brentford. It is unclear whether the game will go on amid multiple Covid cases at both clubs.
