Manchester United handed big boost in manager pursuit

Mauricio Pochettino news

Pochettino to Man Utd this summer?

Manchester United have been handed a big boost in signing Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager.

The Argentine tactician was heavily linked with the club earlier in November following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, they ended up appointing Ralf Rangnick as the interim boss as Paris Saint-Germain refused to negotiate for Pochettino.

It is now reported that the 49-year-old could mutually cut ties with the club this summer as he is unsettled in the French capital.

He is unhappy for both sporting and non-sporting reasons, and prefers a potential return to the Premier League this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are no longer in the mix after Antonio Conte's arrival which puts United in pole position to sign him.

As per Foot Mercato, Pochettino was open to heading to Old Trafford in January itself, but a deal was never on the cards.

He is one of the club's favourite candidates to take the hotseat alongside Ajax's Erik ten Hag and Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui.
