Liverpool are planning to negotiate fresh contract terms with Roberto Firmino, according to Football Insider.

The Brazilian has less than 17 months remaining on his deal, and there has been speculation that he could be sold this summer.

However, it is now reported that the Reds' hierarchy value the striker, and they are willing to extend his stay beyond next season.

Firmino had a tough 2020/21 campaign with the Merseyside outfit, netting just nine goals from 48 appearances in all competitions.

He has struggled with injuries this campaign, but has fared much better with seven goals from 23 outings under Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds have been fancied to pursue a new centre-forward for some time, but that appears unlikely to be case, as per reports.

Klopp is prepared to stick with his winning combination. The board are also prioritising new deals for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Mane and Salah will enter the final year of their respective contracts this summer. The Reds are optimistic of prolonging their stays.
