Predicted Man Utd line-up vs Atletico, Varane starts

Manchester United face Atletico Madrid away in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie tonight.

The Red Devils have won their last two Premier League games, but have had concerns defensively in both encounters.

Ralf Rangnick will be hoping for an improved showing in the Spanish capital.

Predicted Line-up:

David de Gea has been an undisputed starter for the league and European matches, and has barely put a foot wrong this term. He is expected to continue in goal over Dean Henderson.

In defence, there could be at least two changes. Aaron Wan-Bissaka had a tough outing at Elland Road last weekend where he was partly responsible for both goals conceded. Diogo Dalot should replace him.

Harry Maguire could be partnered by Raphael Varane, who is fully fit after a stomach issue. Victor Lindelof has fared well in the last two games, but Varane should be backed with his vast experience of facing Atletico.

Luke Shaw has struggled for consistency this season, but has got the regular nod over Alex Telles since the beginning of the month. Rangnick may not make a surprise swap against Diego Simeone's side.

The same could be the case in the midfield department. Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba have been the regular pairing since the winter break. Pogba has excelled since his long-term injury comeback.

In attack, Jesse Lingard could be the odd-man out from the Leeds visit. Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes were excellent at the weekend with two goal achievements apiece.

Cristiano Ronaldo is an undisputed starter up front with Edinson Cavani injured. Anthony Elanga or Marcus Rashford may get the nod on the right wing. We fancy the former after his late goal off the bench on Sunday.

Predicted Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo.
