Mikel Arteta provides update on Alexandre Lacazette's future
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that the club will assess the future of Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the campaign.
The Frenchman has struggled for goals this season, but he has been hugely effective with his hold-up and link-up play.
This has been reflective over the past 10 league games where he has scored twice while assisting seven goals in the process.
Two of those assists came in the 3-2 win at Watford. Speaking after the game, Arteta was quizzed about the striker's future.
He said: "It is the case. I said to you, at the end of the season where we know where we are, we’ll sit down with those three players [out-of-contract] and between all of us, we’ll decide what we do to move forward."
Lacazette's current deal with the Gunners expires at the end of the season. The club have yet to open contract negotiations.
Aside from Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Mohamed Elneny have also entered the final four months of their respective contracts.
Among the trio, Lacazette appears the most likely to stay next season, though he is reluctant to sign a short-term extension.
