Arsenal open to new Lacazette contract

Arsenal are willing to hand a new contract to Alexandre Lacazette amid his impressive contributions this term.

The Frenchman has netted just four league goals for the Gunners this season, but has been effective with his hold-up and link-up play.

Lacazette has brought the best out of the young attackers behind him. He has registered an impressive seven assists since December.

According to L'Equipe, the Gunners are planning to open talks over a new contract with Lacazette once the campaign concludes.

It is added that the club will propose a one-year contract with the option for another 12 months, but it is unclear whether he will accept it.

Lacazette's former club Lyon are keeping a close eye on the situation. They could hand a longer deal, but a pay-cut will be involved.

Aside from Lyon, Atletico Madrid remain long-term admirers of the 30-year-old, and could look to pursue his services in the near future.

Lacazette could be seen as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez whose contract with the Spanish club expires during the summer.
