Belgian youngster on Arsenal's wish list

Arsenal have been tracking the progress of Belgium international attacking midfielder Charles de Ketelaere, with the Club Brugge starlet reportedly ready to leave his club after 13 years. The 21-year-old, who is comfortable playing as a midfielder or in attack, has caught the eye of many of Europe's top teams, but it is Arsenal who are rumoured to be in pole position to secure his coveted signature.

Since making his debut in 2019, De Ketelaere has gone from strength to strength and has now scooped up six caps for the Belgian national team. With a reported price tag of 25 million euros, the player will not be signed on the cheap though. There are many notable suitors for the forward's signature, with French giants PSG said to be keen to make a move. Chelsea too were earlier linked with the player.

However, it is Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and director of football Edu who are said to be winning the race. The Gunners will be short of attacking talent next season, as they are likely to loose Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette on free transfers due to contact expiry.

At 6 foot 3, De Ketelaere has a physical presence in and around the box, but it is not striker that is his preferred role, with the youngster instead preferring a creative position. It is understood that Arsenal are even considering their plans for next season from a tactical perspective to accommodate the talented creator.
