Saliba set for Arsenal stay next season

William Saliba is prepared to fight for his future at Arsenal rather than pursuing a permanent move elsewhere, TEAMtalk claims.

The Frenchman has yet to make his competitive debut for the Gunners, and he is currently on a season-long loan at Marseille.

His temporary stint has been a huge success. This has prompted talks over a permanent move, but Saliba wants to stay put.

According to reports, the 21-year-old is willing to fight for his future with the Gunners instead of leaving the club for good.

Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding are the specialist centre-backs for now and could be joined by Saliba next term.

Saliba will be classified as a homegrown player, having been registered by the club in each of the previous three campaigns.

Hence, the Gunners don't have any concerns over the Frenchman filling up one of the 17 non home-grown spots available.

Meanwhile, Saliba's current deal with the club expires in two years. The hierarchy may seek to negotiate a renewal over the summer.
