Chelsea ready to make first bid for 35-goal star
Chelsea are prepared to make the first move to sign RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku this summer, L'Equipe reports.
The west London giants are expected to bolster their frontline with manager Thomas Tuchel still concerned over the lack of cutting edge.
The German is ideally eyeing two new signings for this reason, and L'Equipe claims that the Blues are weighing up an approach for Nkunku.
The Frenchman bagged a staggering 35 goals and 20 assists for Leipzig last term. He helped them finish in the top four of Bundesliga.
He also guided them to their first major silverware in the DFB Pokal Cup. Leipzig want him to stay, but a significant bid may test their resolve.
Chelsea have the funds to sign the former PSG man, but they will need to be cautious, considering the struggles of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
Werner arrived from Leipzig after a similar campaign as Nkunku, but has failed to adapt. He has struggled against the low-block defending.
