Chelsea will let Cesar Azpilicueta leave if he expresses a wish to leave
Chelsea will hold talks with Cesar Azpilicueta after his return from international duty with Spain. He was planning on leaving before the change of ownership, but the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christiansen left things complicated.
Azpilicueta had a massive drop in form, especially in the second part of the season. Cesar Azpilicueta had not committed a single error leading to a goal in his entire Chelsea Premier League career, but that impressive statistic ended after many mistakes in the defence, lack of composure and numerous misplayed passes, which was never the case with the consistent Spaniard. His drop in form combined with the rumours of defensive upgrades that Thomas Tuchel intends to make leaves Azpilucueta in an uncertain position regarding his game time.
Out of respect for the club, Azpilicueta will not hand in a transfer request or make a demand to leave. The club will let him decide, which means Chelsea will let him leave if he expresses a preference. Barcelona is the club that is interested the most in the Chelsea captain.
