Arsenal offered chance to sign Dortmund star

Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji, according to The Sun.

The Germany international has just 12 months remaining on his existing deal, and looks set to be sold this summer.

Manchester United were initially deemed to be interested in him, but they have now turned their attention elsewhere.

The Gunners have now been offered the opportunity to sign him, but it appears unlikely that they will make an approach.

Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding were the regular central defenders during the previous campaign.

William Saliba is widely expected to be integrated into Mikel Arteta's squad after his promising loan spell at Marseille.

Hence, the Gunners don't necessarily need to bolster their central defence.

If they plan to bring in a new central defender this summer, it is claimed that they could prioritise a left-footed option.
