Arsenal confirm signing of Portuguese attacker
Arsenal have confirmed their second major signing of the summer with the arrival of Fabio Vieira from Porto.
The 22-year-old is an attacking midfielder by trade, but he can also comfortably play on the left wing.
He registered six goals and 14 assists in the Portuguese top-flight last season while playing just 1329 minutes.
Arsenal have now formally confirmed his arrival. Manager Mikel Arteta has described him as a special talent.
He said: "I am very excited that we have identified and signed such a special talent. Fabio is a very creative player that will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking play."
Vieira is expected to provide stiff competition to Martin Odegaard, who operates from the number 10 role.
The arrival of the Portuguese is unlikely to have an impact on the Gunners' pursuit of Leicester's Youri Tielemans.
Tielemans is seen as someone who can bolster the club's central midfield department rather than the attack.
The Gunners are likely to make a formal bid for him soon.
