Arsenal quoted price to sign Marco Asensio

Arsenal will need to pay around €40m to sign Real Madrid star Marco Asensio this summer, according to Sport.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their wide attacking department, and were recently fancied to sign Leeds' Raphinha.

They were in regular talks with Leeds last week, but seem to have pulled out of the race due to the hefty €70m price tag.

It is now reported that the Gunners are interested in signing Asensio, who has a huge admirer in the form of Mikel Arteta.

Arteta is keen on adding more experience within the squad, and Asensio fits the bill with his winning mentality at Madrid.

It remains to be seen whether they can land his signature. As things stand, the club are reluctant to meet Madrid's valuation.

The European champions want €40m for Asensio, whose deal expires next summer. Arsenal are hopeful of signing him for less.

They are set to face competition from AC Milan over the coming weeks.
