Chelsea block Malang Sarr departure

Chelsea have blocked the departure of Malang Sarr to Fulham, according to Standard Sport.

The Cottagers have been keen on landing the Frenchman this summer, but the Blues are reluctant to do business at the moment.

Sarr was unconvincing in his breakthrough season last term, but the club are hesitant to lose him until a new centre-back is signed.

The Blues have their sights on landing Wesley Fofana from Leicester City, but it will cost them around £80m to prise him away.

Chelsea are hopeful of reducing the fee by offering players, but they may need to act fast with the Foxes having set a deadline.

The Midlands outfit don't want to lose Fofana when their season starts, and Chelsea have less than one week to persuade them.

Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign on Saturday with an away trip to Everton. They will then face Tottenham at home.
