Nicolo Zaniolo set for Chelsea swap deal?
Italian midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo remains a target for Chelsea this transfer window, and reports today from Rome indicate that the midfielder, currently coached by Jose Mourinho, is ready to make the move to the Premier League. Today reports have also linked a potential swap deal involving Christian Pulisic to Roma, with Zaniolo moving the other way.
Zaniolo has clocked up 9 caps for his country and scored two goals, and since his move to Roma from Inter Milan in 2018, the versatile midfielder has played 81 games scoring 12 goals.
At 6 foot 3, Zaniolo is an assuring presence in the midfield and a number of impressive performances in Serie A have caught the eye of scouts across Europe. Zaniolo suffered some devastating injuries in recent seasons, but last campaign's 28 game and 2 goal salvo proves that the 23-year-old is on his way back to his best.
It is understood that Jose Mourinho is open to selling Zaniolo, but would prefer to include a Chelsea player as part of any potential deal. There have been reports that Callum Hudson-Odoi could be allowed to leave, but Mourinho is a bigger fan of USA international Christian Pulisic, and the report from Italy today suggests that the Blues will pay 10 million euros and allow Pulisic to move the other way in any deal for Zaniolo.
