Chelsea defender on his way to London club

Chelsea have reached an agreement with West Ham United for the permanent transfer of Emerson Palmieri.

The Italy international was deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues last term, and he spent the season on loan with Lyon.

It was always anticipated that he would be sold this summer, and the Hammers have now won the race to secure his signature.

The east London outfit have agreed to pay £13 million for the left-back with a further £2m in the form of performance add-ons.

Emerson is set to become the Hammers' seventh signing of the summer.
