Arsenal want Gakpo

Arsenal have entered the race to sign Manchester United target Cody Gakpo, according to Sky Sports News.

The Gunners are looking for a new wide player before the transfer deadline, and they are considering various options.

Among those is Gakpo, who has been touted to move to the Premier League before the transfer window formally closes.

Southampton recently failed with a bid of around £21m for the player, and it is now claimed that the Gunners are in the race.

The Netherlands star was previously on the radar of United, but they are no longer expected to land him after signing Antony.

The Red Devils have spent a staggering £85m to purchase Antony and this has apparently emptied their summer budget.

Meanwhile, the Gunners still have funds to spend before the deadline, and may need to bid around £35m to land Gakpo.

Aside from a wide player, the north London giants could be forced to sign a defensive midfielder amid a fresh injury crisis.

Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are sidelined for several weeks, and this has left a big void in the centre of the park.
