Chelsea turned down chance to sign Real Madrid star
Chelsea rejected the opportunity to land Aurelien Tchouameni during the 2021 summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph.
The Frenchman was one of the players linked with the Blues after their Champions League triumph, but a deal never materialised.
The Blues' hierarchy were reluctant to spend big on someone inexperienced, and they ended up signing Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico.
This decision eventually proved a big mistake as Niguez failed to adapt to the Premier League. The Blues decided against buying him.
Chelsea had the chance to sign Tchouameni once again this summer, but they were outbid to the Frenchman's services by Real Madrid.
The young midfielder was available for just £35 million last year, but Los Blancos had to pay a hefty fee of £85m to sign him this summer.
Tchouameni has been an assured starter for the Madrid giants this campaign following Casemiro's switch to Manchester United in mid-August.
The Blues may end up regretting their decision to snub him.
