Liverpool confirm Cody Gakpo transfer
Liverpool have confirmed the transfer of Manchester United target Cody Gakpo on a long-term deal.
The Netherlands international was superb for PSV during the first half of the season, bagging 13 goals and 17 assists from only 24 games.
He went on to play a leading role for the Dutch at the World Cup. Gakpo scored three goals for Louis van Gaal's side en route to the last eight.
It was widely anticipated that United would sign him in January, but not many expected that Liverpool would win the race to secure his signature.
The Reds have now officially confirmed his arrival from PSV for an undisclosed fee - which is said to be around £37 million.
Gakpo told the club's official website: "I feel really good, I’m really excited to be here. I’m looking forward to start training and start playing for this amazing club."
The Dutchman's arrival has come at the right time for the Reds, who need more quality up front after a fresh knee surgery for Luis Diaz.
