Manchester City want to sign Mateo Kovacic
Manchester City are prepared to make an approach for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The Croatian has been a key player for the Blues over the past five years but he could consider a fresh challenge next term.
His current deal expires in the summer of 2024 and reports claim that the Blues are yet to open talks over an extension.
It is now reported that City boss Pep Guardiola is an admirer of Kovacic and would like to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.
Kovacic has yet to decide on his future, but could leave the Blues, who are already planning for another marquee midfielder.
The west London giants are looking to sign West Ham United's Declan Rice while Brighton's Moises Caicedo is also on their radar.
Kovacic would not want to sit on the bench next season. At City, he could join as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan this summer.
The German has been fancied to leave the Cityzens on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the current season.
