Three Strikers That Could Make Manchester United True Title Contenders

Most Manchester United fans would agree that current manager Erik ten Hag had a solid first season at the club. The former AJAX manager guided his team to win the EFL Cup Final, finish 3rd in the Premier League and reach the semi-final and final of the Europa League and FA Cup respectfully. 

Whilst in a season that bitter rivals Manchester City completed the treble, fans overall will be happy with the progress made by the team. However, there are areas on the field that need further investment, primarily in the attacking third of the pitch. 

Whilst Marcus Rashford had a solid season, both scoring, assists and overall play, the team needs another world-class striker to be able to compete with the best. 

In January, Manchester United brought in Wout Weghorst on a loan deal for the rest of the season and even though the Dutch forward performed reasonably well, he was never a long-term solution. 

Behind the scenes, it appears that Manchester United are looking at the options and availability of some of the best strikers in the world. 

Along with the UEFA Champions League and the history of the club, Old Trafford is still seen as an attractive destination for players at the top level. 

We look at three players that have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer:





Harry Kane 

After Manchester City purchased Erling Haaland, Manchester United became the only realistic Premier League transfer destination for Kane, despite his sensational scoring record for both club and country. 

If the England captain wants to finish his career with a Premier League title, he is going to need to move away from Tottenham. They have had yet another underwhelming season, despite his performances. Put simply, Kane isn’t getting any younger, and moves like this aren’t going to be available to them for much longer. 

For Man United, they would be getting a striker that guarantees 20 Premier League goals per season if fit. Kane is also a top professional and won’t bring with him the propensity to hit the headlines away from the football pitch.  Reports from Germany are that Bayern Munich are keen on purchasing Harry Kane and have already had an offer rejected. Manchester United will face competition for his signature this summer. Whilst tickets for Manchester United are already in high demand, this would be the biggest signing for a Premier League club this season and be sure to increase prices. 





Victor Osimhen

Rumour has it that Osimhen is United’s top choice in the upcoming transfer window. Truth be told, it’s easy to see why – he is one of the best strikers in world football at the minute and one of the key reasons Napoli won the Serie A last season. 

The Nigerian has proven himself at every level of the game and may want to move on from Napoli after winning the league there. His scoring record this season is nothing short of sensational and it would be interesting to see if he could transfer that level of form to the English game. 

One challenge United will have is bringing him away from the adoring Napoli fans to Old Trafford.





Evan Ferguson 

Irishman Ferguson has been one of the jewels in Brighton’s crown last season. The 18-year-old is already being compared to Robert Lewandowski. Even Ferguson already looks top-tier Premier League-ready, a move to Old Trafford could bring him to the next level. 

Whilst younger players are known to struggle with the physical elements of the Premier League, Evan Ferguson has already shown that he is able to compete with the bigger defenders, and his finishing is improving every game, scoring 6 goals in total. Whilst the player has signed an extension on his current contract, a big money move could be around the corner.

The Red Devils will start the campaign at home to Wolves and then travel to London which will see Spurs vs Manchester United, tickets available at Stubhub, Fan Seats and official channels, already one of the biggest fixtures of the season.
