Chelsea lining up move for English striker?

Chelsea are reportedly planning a surprise approach for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

The Blues have bolstered their frontline with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, but manager Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing another marquee addition.

A number of high-profile strikers have been linked in recent weeks, but according to Express, the Blues are plotting a shock move for Villa star Watkins.

The England international was in stellar form for Unai Emery's side in the back end of last season as they went from relegation strugglers to finish seventh.

Chelsea are now planning an approach for his services, but it is unclear whether Villa would entertain any bids for their prized asset at the current point.

The west Midlands outfit have big ambitions after qualifying for the UEFA Conference League. They have signed the likes of Moussa Diaby and Pau Torres.

They are unlikely to let go of Watkins unless there is a substantial bid in the region of £70 million. The former Brentford star netted 15 goals in the top-flight last term.
