Man City table late bid for Yari Verschaeren

Belgian starlet set for Etihad move?

Manchester City have made an approach to sign Belgium international attacking midfielder Yari Verschaeren, who is seen as a long-term successor at international level to City star Kevin De Bruyne. Yari Verschaeren has seven caps for Belgium, scoring one goal, and has played over 150 games for his current club Anderlecht, scoring 23 goals.

The midfielder is a youth product of Anderlecht's academy, and is seen as one of the best young players in his homeland. With just 24 months remaining on his deal with the Jupiler League side, Anderlecht are said to be open to selling the Sint-Niklaas-born player immediately, if the right offer is received. Man City have been dealt the blow of a long-term injury to captain Kevin De Bruyne, and despite Phil Foden seemingly stepping into that role so far this season, City want to add strength in depth with a move for Verschaeren.

City are ready to pay the pricetag of £25 million to secure a move for Verschaeren, and are confident that a deal can be agreed before the transfer window closes on September 1st 2023.

Verschaeren has an abundance of quality in attack, with a good range of passing and creativity. He can play on the right wing or in an attacking midfield central role.
