Popescu set for Liverpool shock move?

Liverpool have sent their chief scout to monitor the progress of Octavian Popescu, the Romanian 20-year-old left-winger currently playing for FCSB. The youngster has already over 100 games in the Romanian top flight under his belt, and an additional seven caps for his country.

Liverpool are confident that they can persuade Popescu that Anfield is the right place to move after Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and French duo Marseille and Lyon were all linked with a move for the talented youngster.

If a deal is completed, the Romanian could break the country's transfer record. It is believed that Liverpool may need to pay around £30 million to sign Popescu, and a further £7 million in add-ons based upon his appearances and success at Liverpool.

Liverpool have numerous attacking players available, and it is known that Jurgen Klopp wants to consider life after Mo Salah, who has been also linked with a departure from the club before the transfer window slams shut. The Egyptian international is said to be keen on a transfer move to Saudi Arabia.
