Chelsea defender rejected four clubs to stay
Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella rejected interest from Leipzig, Atletico, Real Sociedad and Sevilla to stay with the club this summer.
The Spaniard was touted to leave the Blues in the recent transfer window. Manchester United initially wanted him before they chose to land Sergio Reguilon on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
It is now reported that Leipzig, Atletico, Sevilla and Sociedad were all interested in the left-back on deadline day, but he rejected their advances to fight for his spot with the west London giants this season.
Since the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as manager, Cucurella has fallen out-of-favour. He is currently the third-choice left-back in the first-team squad after Ben Chilwell and young graduate Ian Maatsen.
The Blues were open to selling Maatsen to Burnley before the transfer deadline, but the left-back rejected the opportunity to leave in order to prove himself under Pochettino this campaign.
He could yet leave in January with his deal expiring next summer.
