Jurgen Klopp confirms attacker injury blow ahead of Union SG clash
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Cody Gakpo won't be allowed in the Europa League group stage clash against Union SG tomorrow.
The Dutchman led the line against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and he scored a vital equaliser for the Reds before the half-time interval.
However, he injured his knee in the lead-up to the goal and was substituted at the break. Klopp has now confirmed that he won't face Union SG.
He said: "He was injured before he scored the goal. No [he won’t be available]."
In his absence, Darwin Nunez is expected to lead the attack against the Bundesliga outfit. He was unfortunately dropped over the weekend.
The Uruguayan has four goals to his name in the current campaign and will be aiming to continue the good form in the Europa League tomorrow.
The Reds are overwhelming favourites to progress to the round of 16 stage with a first place group finish and should see off the challenge of Union SG.
